Eco-cycle.
The development of Bo01 was influenced greatly by SVEBO's high expecta- tions for creating "a national example of sustainable urban development,"8 with closed eco-cycles and all energy generated by local renewables.
The approach, known as the Bo01 eco-cycle recycling system, had as its primary goal "achiev- ing the greatest possible recovery and recycling of materials and resources."
Since approximately half of all domestic refuse in Sweden is food waste, special attention was paid to the recovery and recycling of food waste as part of the Bo01 eco-cycle effort articulated in the Quality Program.
In its role as primary developer, it was also able to coordinate development of the urban plan, soil decontamination, street and traffic designs, building standards, renewable energy systems, and the eco-cycle of waste and sewage systems.
